Information - Type
of Tenancy Agreement
The
Tenancy Agreement that you will be required to sign is an
Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement. This is a legal document
and it is therefore advised that you read the document thoroughly
before signing and ask any questions regarding parts of it
you may not understand. You may wish to take advice from the
local Citizens’ Advice Bureau or a Solicitor.
An
Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement is guaranteed on both
sides for a fixed term of six months. After the six month
period the tenancy becomes a Statutory Periodic Tenancy, which
then allows the tenant to give one month’s notice in
writing from the rent due date or the landlord to give two
months notice requiring possession of the property from the
rent due date.
